¡No lo deseches! 5 Maneras para reutilizar tu café en casa

Don't Throw It Away! 5 Ways to Reuse Your Coffee Grounds at Home

We're in lockdown, and you're probably doing a lot of things at home to make the most of your time; but there's something else you can do, and this time, using coffee.

After extracting the full potential of ground coffee beans, there are still benefits to be had. Many inventions have been created around the world thanks to the reuse of coffee beans. Such as: coffee-based firewood, fuel, fabric, and even tableware, etc. Putting this into practice, we share five ways you can start reusing your coffee beans at home. Take note and apply them!

1.- In the garden

Use coffee on nitrogen-loving plants like lettuce, roses, and most perennials; this will help nourish them to grow and stay healthy.

Don't spend too much on expensive products! Coffee enriches the quality of the soil, so take advantage of this great benefit and plant it in the part of your garden you'd like to improve.

2.- Natural exfoliant

You can also use coffee as a facial and body exfoliator, along with other ingredients (like honey) that benefit your skin. Add the coffee grounds to a sponge and gently rub it into your skin to remove dead skin cells.

3.- Crafts

If you like crafts and handmade items, candles are a great option. Use coffee to make your own candles, creating a pleasant aroma that will relax you. And if you like art, you can also use it as natural paint in your next project.

4.- Avoid bad odors

Everyone loves the aroma of coffee, which is why you can use it to prevent unpleasant odors. Place it in a container or jar in your home or refrigerator for a pleasant scent.

5.- Pest repellent

Caffeinated coffee beans are a natural insecticide, so you can use them to repel fleas, slugs, and various insects.

Take into account the moisture content of the coffee once it's been extracted; therefore, we recommend letting it dry in the sun in a container or on newspaper to prevent spoilage and ensure it lasts longer.

We hope you find these tips helpful, as they help you start recycling your coffee. If you come up with anything interesting, let us know in the comments; we'd love to hear them. Remember, you can also share photos of how you're recycling your coffee on our Instagram .

We care deeply about caring for the planet, which is why we want to tell you that we also practice several of these recycling methods with all the coffee we use in our laboratory. We believe it's very valuable to be grateful and give back a little bit of what nature gives us.

We want to encourage all #HumaLovers to reuse their coffee. So, if you'd like to make something bigger and can't afford the coffee you have at home, we can provide it for you free of charge. You can write to us to schedule a visit to our Lab once the health emergency is over. We'd love to welcome you.
